Akeredolu suspends Ondo Poly board chairman

Banji Alabi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), has been suspended by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for insubordination.

Alabi's suspension was based on the report of the visiting committee previously set up by the governor of the institution, which revealed that Alabi had refused to honor his invitation on playoff occasions.

Akeredolu made the suspension known by receiving the report of the 7-member visiting committee at Polytechnic.

According to the Governor, "the President is suspended until I hear from him."

"We stepped in once or twice and gave money with specific instructions to pay salaries. At the end of the day, you still can't complete the salary payment. I'm sure that your report will contain this."

For his part, Professor Olabode Kolade Koriko, chairman of the panel, praised Akeredolu for deciding that the formation of the panel was important as he presented the panel's report Thursday in the governor's office.

>

Prof. Koriko commended the governor for releasing more than 1.6 billion naira to bail out the polytechnic, as did the governor for his dedication to repositioning the polytechnic and restoring it to its former glory.

>

The Chair revealed that as part of its mandate, the committee met and interviewed relevant polytechnic and host community stakeholders at various Owo sites before to formulate its recommendations.
