News broke on April 10 that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn quietly called it quits this spring after six years together. Although the couple had been together for a long time, the two were mostly tight-lipped about their connection and their life together — except, that is, when it came to Swift's songwriting. The pair first connected while Swift was working on her 2017 album "Reputation," and fans believe quite a few songs on the record are about her then-new boyfriend. Then, many songs from her 2019 album "Lover" are about falling deeper in love with her longtime beau. Her single "Lover," which includes numerous wedding references, even sparked big engagement rumors for the couple.

And when Swift released "Folklore" and "Evermore" in 2020, not only did some of the new songs about her romance with Alwyn, but she also teamed up with her partner to write some of the songs. Alwyn has been credited on the songs "Exile", "My Tears Ricochet", "August", "This Is Me Trying", "Illicit Affairs", "Betty", "Champagne Problems", "Coney Island", and "Evermore". under the pseudonym of William Bowery. He is also a songwriter on his latest album, "Midnights", and credited on the song "Sweet Nothing". Other songs from Swift's latest release, like "Snow on the Beach" and "Mastermind," also seem to reference their relationship. Swift is currently on tour and fans have wondered if the Eras Tour setlist will change in the future to omit some of the songs about Alwyn. Plus, Swift knows one breakup song well, and fans can probably expect a few more in the future.
