Alleged anti-party conduct: A'Ibom APC Youth calls for suspension of ex-DIG Ekpoudum Senator Enang and others

Youth loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State under the auspices of the Youth Progressive Movement have demanded the suspension of a retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police , Udom Ekpoudum and former presidential aide, Senator Ita Enang and others on alleged anti-party activities, describing them as party black sheep.

They also called President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential flag bearer, Bola Tinubu and the party's national chairman, Alh. Abdullahi Adamu, to wade through the litigation crisis in the state.

Recalled that some APC leaders in the state had taken the party to court, slowing the level of its preparations for the 2023 general election in the state.

While Ita Enang's trial in the Federal High Court in Uyo led to the cancellation of the candidacy of the party's gubernatorial candidate, Akan Udofia, the appeal of the ex-DIG who was decided on Tuesday in Abuja, saw the impeachment of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the bona fide candidate for Akwa Ibom North West senatorial candidate.

In a Thursday briefing in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the group's coordinator, Mr. Ubokobong Michael, said their actions violated Articles 2, 7 and 9 and Article 21 of the CPA Constitution (as amended) 2022, and flouted the presidential election. directive that every party aspirant should withdraw charges against candidates and explore internal party mechanisms to resolve all post-election issues.

He expressed concern about the anti-party activities exhibited by APC stalwarts, adding that their actions are contrary to the precepts of the party's constitution.

He said, “APC Akwa Ibom State cannot continue to suffer setbacks due to lawsuits by party members against the party. We all know that a house divided against itself can't stand. We don't want to play against the opposition anymore, so we can't afford to lose the 2023 general election.

"Senator Ita Enang, DIG Udom Ekpoudom and Mr. Austin Utuk flouted President Muhammadu Buhari's directive and pursued prosecution against APC candidate for Akwa Ibom Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio North West and APC gubernatorial candidate Obong Akanimo Udofia to obtain a politically influenced judgment against the party.

He alleged that disgruntled elements of the party are sponsored by people who wanted to sow disunity within the party "for the sole purpose of thwarting APC's chances in the 2023 election".

“In light of the above, the PYPM, as a mobilization group committed to the party, is obliged to request their suspension from the party, he said.

He further stated, "These people are black sheep in the party, they want the party to fail so that their normal activities don't collapse in Abuja. They don't want APC to have a candidate in the governorship so that they can continue to reside in Abuja and go their own ways, pushing for ministerial appointments, presidential assistant portfolios and other federal appointments that only serve their personal interests."
