Widows in Anambra State have vowed to muster support for Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and its senatorial candidate Victor Umeh.

The widows have sworn to pronounce a curse on any person or group of people who work against the victory of the Labor Party and its candidates in the state in the 2023 general election.

The group leader, Ms. Hope Nwandu, said this in Awka on Saturday.

Nwandu said the mobilization of votes for the candidates was underway and anyone who contested them was fighting a losing battle.

The widows swore to curse anyone who gets in their way, specifically adding that nothing will stop Umeh from winning the Anambra Central Senatorial Area senatorial election in 2023.

Nwandu said those who shared 1 million naira with each ward in Anambra core area were wasting their money.

She said anyone contesting the election against Umeh would be to blame for themselves.

She revealed that one of the senatorial candidates started distributing N1m to each of the wards in the central senatorial area, adding that it would be an exercise in futility.

“These selfish people challenging Umeh are just wasting their time. Where have they been all this time, every election they will start sharing money, wrappers, rice and other things .

"After the election, they won't answer your calls. But Umeh has always been there for the oppressed, whether he holds political office or not.

"The mobilization of our more than 3,000 members is underway and anyone who thinks otherwise will have to confront us," Nwandu said.

Umeh will fight in the Senate elections against Leader Kodilichukwu Okelekwe of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Uche Ekwunife of the Peoples Democratic Party and Hon. Dozie Nwankwo of the Grand Alliance All Progressives.

Umeh had said he narrowly lost the APGA ticket to Nwankwo because of what he described as a gang against him by party leaders.
