Andrea Adamo from Milan is part of a new group of European designers for whom clothes can never be too form-fitting or revealing, wrapping the body with bands and cords of fabric, or clingy knits with cutouts galore.
He shredded dozens of fabrics for spring, which left flashing shards of flesh beneath a trellis of crystal chains or coarse threads. He attributed these "unfinished" looks to a floating stitch technique.
"Between surfer and mermaid," Adamo said backstage, identifying Spain's popular Famara beach for its beautiful sunsets and big waves — as a main reference, the first evoked on skintight jersey outfits.
At the foot of a modern office building, his models stepped on mostly drained reflecting pools , their radical platform sandals not quite high enough to keep their jagged bell bottoms and leather cargo leggings dry.
Adamo seems to be as excited as everyone in fashion about the upcoming live-action release from "The Little Mermaid", which is rated G, unlike Adamo's gendered collection.
