A leader of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Princewill Dike, left the party for the Peoples Democratic Party.

Dike, a close associate and relative of former transport minister Rotimi Amaechi, said he left the state's main opposition party because all of its warnings that Rivers' APC headed for disaster were ignored. .

Amaechi and Dike are from Ubima in the Ikwerre local government area of the state.

Dike, an attorney, who served as special assistant for student affairs when Amaechi was state governor, said all of his advice on how to save the party had not been followed.

He said he decided to pitch his tent with Governor Nyesom Wike because he had excelled in the state, especially in the areas of infrastructure development.

He said: “A political party is a vehicle of political power. When I observed that Rivers APC was heading for the precipice, I started to whine. Alas, they labeled me a prophet of doom, just like Jeremiah by the Israelite.

"I didn't just complain, but also offered solutions to get the ship off the cliff, but that was also ignored by the group.

"My advice was not taken. So why should I continue to be in a party that is seemingly doomed to destruction and have my political destiny ruined?

"Mr. Superb Projects (Wike) has achieved good results, so even the blind can see his infrastructural revival and the deaf can hear about his good work.

“The sky bridges not only facilitated traffic, they added value to the aesthetics of the metropolis. We must therefore partner with the dynamic Governor to bring in a successor who can continue where he left off the good work. »

The PUNCH reported that there had been a wave of resignations from the APC, with some joining the PDP.
