APC calls on Atiku to step down from presidential race over alleged corruption

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) has demanded the immediate removal of Atiku Abubakar from the presidential race for alleged involvement in corrupt practices.

Bayo Onanuga, director of the APC PCC (media and publicity), in a statement, also asked the presidential candidate of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) to tell the truth about his health condition.< /p>

“A man who wants to rule Nigeria and wants Nigerians to trust him must immediately and honestly address these two issues: his health and his legendary corruption,” Onanuga said.

The statement reads: "It is time for Atiku Abubakar, the 76-year-old PDP presidential candidate, to come clean about two issues that cloud his campaign: his health condition and his outrageous confession about how he colluded with his former boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, to steal Nigeria's treasure, using special purpose vehicles after he became vice president in 1999.

"If Atiku has a modicum of honor, he should have retired from the race he is doomed to lose again, after the release of his audio clip, in which he provides a vivid explanation of the modus operandi of its legendary corruption.

"So far, there has been no noteworthy response from the Atiku camp to the disturbing revelation, save for a vain attempt to deny the whistleblower, Michael Achimugu, media consultant of Atiku.

“Nigerians are appalled that Atiku and PDP are so shameless that they ignored the bombshell. We, however, implore Nigerians to hold Atiku accountable for the shocking revelation by throwing him out at the polls in February.

"Atiku also does not talk about his health, even when his mercenaries make daily vain attempts to divert public attention from his main rival by concocting lies upon lies. While Atiku is the candidate that Nigerians should be deeply concerned about.

"The years-long lies and various diversionary tactics are no longer tenable. Atiku's edifice of lies is about to come crashing down on him. The PDP presidential candidate is certainly not doing well, despite paper efforts.

"Brows were raised when Atiku failed to return home after the December recess to continue his lackluster and wavering fifth campaign for Nigeria's presidency."

Amid concern from political observers that Atiku has been missing since December 21, 2022 on the campaign trail, online platform Sahara Reporters reported that Atiku was flown to UK from his usual home in Dubai to London for treatment.

“The story has not been vigorously denied. We have reliable information that Atiku did indeed fall ill while missing in the field. He was indeed in the UK for aid. medical, although managers concealed that he was there at the invitation of some British officials in Whitehall, in a imitation of the previous visit of APC rival Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

"Despite his handlers' efforts to portray Atiku as healthy and physically fit to withstand the rigors of presidential campaigning, photos from the rallies belied this. Campaign footage sometimes showed him being helped down steps in stadiums. Sometimes he walked with an apparent handicap, dragging his feet."
