APC sets dates for Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo primaries

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has set dates for the conduct of gubernatorial primaries in Bayelsa and Kogi.

In a schedule and schedule of activities for the conduct of gubernatorial elections for the three states signed by APC National Organizing Secretary Alhaji Sulaiman Argungu, the primaries for Imo states, Kogi and Bayelsa will be held on April 10.

Some party leaders in south-south Bayelsa State however stormed the party's national secretariat in Abuja, demanding that the party's gubernatorial candidate in the 2020 gubernatorial election , David Lyon, is granted the right of refusal for the ticket of the governorship of the APC.

Saturday Tribune checks revealed that the Supreme Court fired APC nominee and winner of the last gubernatorial election, David Lyon,

on disinformation on the certificate of his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo.

Speaking with reporters, pioneer secretary of APC in Bayelsa State, Hon. Marlin Danier, who led some party leaders to select Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for Lyon, said he remained the most formidable candidate to overthrow the PDP in the South-South State.

He said: "Today we introduce our Principal Chef David Lyon as a household name in this country.

"A young man who valiantly fought a very colossal governor and won it, unfortunately the weapons of law were twisted against him and he was denied the opportunity to be the governor of the Bayelsa State to save this State.

“Today we are back here to get the form for him to go back and challenge this election.

“Ordinarily, and under normal circumstances, he was supposed to have the right of first refusal by the party. APC in Bayelsa State as it stands.

“I bring this message to the National Executive and anyone who is concerned, that if they want APC to produce the next Governor of Bayelsa State, there is no doubt that they must choose the leader David Lyon as candidate for the party.

“Chief David Lyon has been tested, proven and trusted. As I speak to you, every day the PDP-led administration invites pastors and imams from different backgrounds to go pray don't become the APC nominee. He's their nightmare. They're comfortable with everyone else, but with him they know they're gone. That's been their prayer.

"I can tell the world with confidence and categorically that if David Lyon gets the ticket today, to represent the party, more than half of the PDP members will return to the APC.

"If anyone thinks I'm lying, go ask the PDP members in Bayelsa, not even the APC members, the PDP members will tell them that if David Lyon comes back as the candidate of the APC, all will come and work for him. This is the true state of things in Bayelsa State today.

“I want to urge the National Secretariat to make sure that there is a level playing field for everyone if there is someone who will show up. It should be a level playing field. you can see what's going on in the states, the congresses, the state congress in the local government, because things aren't done right."
