“You see me already; I am alive, healthy and not sick. I have never visited a hospital because of illness.

"The last time I had a medical check-up was in February 2022 and I am supposed to have another one in 2023.

"I will hopefully do so after my inauguration, as I am sure to be sworn in as governor of the state," he said.

Mr. Nwifuru urged people to disregard reports of his poor health, saying he had nothing to hide.

"When people start their slander campaign, you don't have to worry once there is no skeleton in the closet.

"Once you're human and people aren't afraid of you, you don't live anymore.

"When someone has something to offer, expect unfounded stories about such a person from naysayers.

“The Ebonyi have seen that the opposition can offer them nothing but lies and deceit,” he said.

Mr. Nwifuru also dispelled the rumor that he was in conflict with the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, Peter Chukwu.

"The bishop is my father in the Lord and always guides me spiritually.
