APC blasts Adelabu for saying he lost Oyo guber ticket on Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday criticized its leader Adebayo Adelabu for his comment on the Oyo 2023 gubernatorial post.

A statement from National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said that while the outburst is understandable, it is totally misleading.

While appearing on a radio show, Adelabu alleged that he had his party ticket stolen because of his relationship with APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.

The former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has claimed that five senators and other chiefs were involved in a plot against him.

He appointed Senate Speaker Ahmed Lawan, National President Abdullahi Adamu, National Secretary Iyiola Omisore, Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Oyo APC and Flag Bearer Teslim Folarin.

In response, Morka noted that the fate of Adelabu, the party's standard bearer in the 2019 elections, was decided by delegates and no one else.

APC said the politician should explore and exhaust domestic redress mechanisms or seek legal redress for his dissatisfaction with the primaries.

“Having decamped to another political party, rather than focusing on his lackluster governorship project, Chief Adelabu has been busy making outlandish and baseless allegations against some national leaders and APC chiefs.

“While wishing Adelabu good luck in his new political journey, we advise him to refrain from defaming and slandering the respected leaders and national officers of our great party,” the statement added.
