APC never planned to win election in Rivers, says party candidate

Alex Weli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Obio-Akpor 2 constituency in the state legislature in the just-concluded elections, said his party will not had never planned to win the 2023 election and did not have the funds to go to court as well.

Weli revealed that party candidates were asked to contribute money to pursue cases in the electoral court, but called it unnecessary.

The party leader, who quit the APC yesterday and joined the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), says he decided to leave the APC because he needed peace of mind , adding that the party had not prepared for the elections and had no strategy in place to win.

He said, "In all the meetings we attended before the election, there was no strategy on how to win the election. We all knew there was an impending disaster at Rivers APC. »

He alleged that Cole never made contact with other APC candidates, regretting that the election was one-sided, with the candidates being left to fend for themselves.

"That's why I chose to leave the party peacefully. The 2023 election is the worst poll we have ever seen, there was no plan and preparation to win by APC. He noted that it was pointless to contest the victory of the PDP, saying that he needed peace of mind, hence his decision not to join the party in court.

"I have decided not to contest the result of the elections of March 18, 2023 in court for the general interest, the stability and the unity of our constituency, in particular and of our dear Council, Obio/Akpor, in general."< /p>

“Therefore, in the spirit of sportsmanship, I heartily congratulate our dear wife and mother, Lady Emilia Lucky Amadi, on her election to the Rivers State Assembly to represent me and the good people of the constituency. Obio/Akpor 2.

"The election of Siminalayi Fubara responds to my demand for fairness and social justice vis-à-vis the neighboring communities on the one hand and the senatorial district of the south-east on the other hand, knowing that the district Rivers South-East Senate, previously, has never produced a governor in the history of Rivers State."
