APC PCC Demands Arrest and Prosecution of Obasanjo, Atiku and Others for Alleged Theft of Public Funds

As the general election nears, the All Progressives Congress (APC PCC) Presidential Campaign Council has demanded the immediate arrest of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the presidential candidate of the opposition People's Democratic Party ( PDP) Atiku Abubakar for the alleged theft of the maritime float account amounting to billions of naira.

At a press conference jointly addressed by members of the Media Directorates in Abuja, the council reiterated its call for Atiku Abubakar to step down from the presidential race due to his role in the alleged offense recently made public by a whistleblower, Mr. Michael Achimugu.

Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, director of public affairs and chief spokesperson for the group argued that Atiku lacked the moral leeway to take the exalted seat of the presidency based on his alleged role in the saga.

Council argued the duo breached the code of conduct for public officials and committed the offenses of conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and money laundering because of their alleged role in the maritime float account .

The PCC APC has directed security agencies to recover all monies allegedly stolen from the Sea Float's account by the duo and several other collaborators exposed in the whistleblower's voice note.

“The Marine Float Account issue is not new to Nigerians. In the voice note, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar can be heard boasting that the issue of this account has been thoroughly investigated by the 'EFCC, but then he was smart enough to escape,' the board said.

"However, we note that in 2006, at the height of his public feud with Obasanjo over the sharing of the money, the same PDP formally requested Atiku Abubakar to repay 500 million naira drawn from this account .

"Under these circumstances, since the nation now knows that the Marine Float Account and other similar accounts were 'SPV' accounts, it follows that all payments made to this account were funds stolen from the vaults. Therefore, we call on all security agencies to recover all monies withdrawn from this account by anyone else.

“In light of these very serious revelations, we call on Atiku Abubakar to immediately issue an unqualified apology to the people of Nigeria and immediately step down from the presidential race, while handing himself over to law enforcement.

“What is now clear to the people of Nigeria is that between 1999 and 2007: President Obasanjo and Atiku were running a criminal enterprise and fraud empire in Abuja at the same time Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was working very hard, conscientiously and meticulously the foundation to rebuild Lagos State.

"That following these revelations, it becomes clear that Atiku Abubakar has absolutely nothing left to campaign on because the period from 1999 to 2007 on which he still relies can now be described by Nigerians as the " SPV years "when they ruled failed Nigeria.

“While President Obasanjo and Atiku deprived the good people of Lagos State of their monthly allowances from local government, even after the Supreme Court ordered the release of funds, they were busy stealthily stealing resources of the nation in Abuja.

"That the real and dark reason for the seemingly irreconcilable feud between President Obasanjo and Atiku Abubakar is a disagreement over the money they both stole from the 'SPV' accounts at the time."< /p>

The council called on all well-meaning Nigerians and law enforcement to protect Achimugu, emphasizing that no harm should befall him or his family members.

He added, "We suspect that some of Atiku Abubakar's henchmen are planning to eliminate him and harm his family members. We will hold Atiku Abubakar accountable if anything happens to this patriotic Nigerian or the members of his family. We also encourage him to reveal to Nigerians these “shattering” revelations which he is holding back for the good of this nation and the future of our children.”
