Argentina stars can give their lives for Messi - Scolani

Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni says his players consider Lionel Messi the greatest player in the history of football and they would die for the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

Messi, 35, made an immense contribution when Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in December, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

Scaloni says the former Barcelona ace is held in high regard by his national teammates and would do anything for him.

"That they see Leo (Messi) as the best player in history, as they see him. ... They would lay down their lives for him. It's a different chemistry. In football, that matters a lot," he told journalist Roy Nemer.

Messi shares a strong relationship with his international team-mates and this has shown throughout the World Cup campaign in the Middle East.
