Arise TV's Rufai Oseni apologizes for using BRT lane

Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni has apologized to the Lagos State government for driving in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane.

Rufai had complained, in a tweet on his official handle, that a policeman had pointed a gun at him for using the BRT lane.

DAILY POST reports that the state government has pledged to take disciplinary action against the TV presenter for violating Lagos traffic laws.

Gboyega Akosile, Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had in a statement via his Twitter account, described the radio journalist as an outlaw, saying that 'he (Rufai) had already admitted his offense to the police.< /p>

Rufai's action had provoked several reactions on social networks.

While some accused the broadcaster of breaking the law, others were of the view that the decision to prosecute him was political.

However, during a morning show on Wednesday, Rufai apologized to friends, family and colleagues for the incident, saying he didn't know everything.

He said: "As many of you know, I was in the news for a few days for the wrong reasons. It caused an unnecessary distraction for my friends, family, members of the public and for all my colleagues here on Arise News Channel.

"So I would like to apologize to all parties for what happened during the incident with the police when I was arrested for driving in a bus lane.

"I cannot and dare not claim to know everything".
