Armed robbers target Bulgari jewelry store in Paris

PARIS — Bulgari's Place Vendôme flagship was attacked by armed robbers on Thursday, according to an AFP report.

Videos circulating on Twitter show an individual dressed in black with a gun guarding two motorcycles outside the entrance from the store, chasing passers-by. Another clip shows three people speeding away on motorbikes.

Sources close to the investigation said the robbery occurred around 1:45 p.m. Saturday by three individuals and that the value of the stolen property was estimated at several million euros. Investigations are ongoing.

The case was forwarded to the Banditry Suppression Squad, a special police unit tasked with 'investigate thefts, serious burglaries and scams, stolen cars and thefts of works of art,' they added.

In a statement, the LVMH-owned jeweler confirmed French media reports that an agent of Safety had been taken care of by emergency services after being injured in the altercation. He said support structures have been put in place.

"A complaint has been filed and the house will make no further comment, leaving the police and services to investigate,” Bulgari continued.

The Bulgari store had previously been targeted in September 2021, when armed robbers got away with a loot later valued at 10 million euros.

In the ensuing chase, one officer was slightly injured and another used a service weapon. Two suspects were arrested in the center of Paris. Two other people were arrested and jailed in July 2022 for the September 2021 robbery.

A year ago, the pop-up Chanel watch and jewelry store on rue de la Paix was the target of four robbers armed with assault rifles.
