Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya rewarded Army Warrant Officer Samson Jimba of the 8th Division in Sokoto State with a brand new Toyota Hilux pickup truck .

Yahaya, represented by the General Officer Commanding the 8th Sokoto Division, Major General Uwem Bassey, handed over the vehicle key to the recipient at Kalambaina, the headquarters of the 8th Sokoto Division.

According to General Yahaya, the donation was part of his vision to reward hard work and commitment to duty and to motivate other junior officers in the army.

He further added that the gesture should serve as an encouragement to the recipients as some of them have a few months to retire.

The army chief said, "Let me tell you that some of these regimental sergeant majors are responsible for enforcing discipline among the soldiers. They act as a bridge between the soldiers and the officers of the army.

"We will continue to remember the efforts of the soldiers and officers who sacrificed their lives to protect the sovereignty of the country and to continue to remain one Nigeria."

He maintained that the Nigerian military would not relinquish its responsibility to protect and defend the nation against terrorists.
