Arsenal striker Jesus backed by Brazilian legend to become 'one of the best players in Europe'

Brazilian legend Ronaldinho has backed Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus to prove this season that he is 'one of the best players in Europe'.

The striker who joins Arsenal for £45m is one of the standout Premier League transfers this summer.

The move came after Manchester City spent £51million plus extras to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Mike Dean shouldn't talk to the press about his VAR decision-making

Jesus has sometimes gone unnoticed at Man City but at Arsenal he has the opportunity to shine as the number one striker.

The Brazil international impressed during pre-season and proved himself in the Premier League.

He had two goals and two assists in their first two league games of the new campaign.

Ronaldinho is a big fan of the Arsenal star and expects 'big things from him' this season:

"When Gabriel joined Manchester City, I said he would become one of the best players in the world. When given a chance, he showed what he was capable of - but at Manchester City, he was never shown the love that a player of his quality deserves," Ronaldinho told The Mirror.

"At Arsenal he was lucky to be the focal point, the manager and the fans showed him the love, and he is already repaying it." He added.

Ronaldinho added: "I expect great things from him this season - he will return the love for him by showing that he is not only one of the best players in the Premier League, but also from Europe."

Mikel Arteta is one of Jesus' biggest admirers, as the Spaniard signed him after working with him while he was Pep Guardiola's assistant at Man City.

The Gunners boss suggested that Jesus is a 'natural leader' capable of doing exactly what the club 'asks him to do':

“Obviously we know how he is as a player and what he was going to bring. He has won everything in recent years, he knows the standards, what it takes to win,” Arteta told < em>Sky Sports.

"Obviously we had to change his role and what he had to do in this football club and now he is one of the leaders.

"He's a natural leader, but he's also someone who's prepared and I think he's at a point in his career where he's able to do what we ask him to do."
