Arsenal told of clear 'concern' over Man Utd legend's title chances – 'it's a marathon'

Man Utd legend Patrice Evra has warned Arsenal they will need to sign players in January if they are to challenge for the title this season.

The Gunners have been recruiting well this summer as they have spent big to add Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira to their squad.

That's when William Saliba was as good as a new recruit. The centre-back has returned to the club after a sensational loan spell with Marseille.

Arsenal's inexperience was revealed at the end of last season as they narrowly missed out on a Champions League place.

They are doing everything they can to address that this season, as they have had a fantastic start to the 2022/23 campaign.

Mikel Arteta's side have won nine of their first ten Premier League games and are four points clear of Man City at the top of the table.

The Londoners are also doing well in Europe as they have won their first four games and got rid of their Group A rivals.

Man City are, however, expected to end the campaign as Premier League winners. Their loss to Liverpool at the weekend was their first of the new season.

Pep Guardiola has the advantage of being able to choose from a much stronger squad at City compared to Arsenal.

Evra believes Arsenal's lack of depth will catch up with them eventually.

"The league is not a sprint, it's a marathon," Evra told Amazon Prime.

"My concern is that they don't have the bench. I hope in January they will buy more players. If you want to fight for the league."

Club legend Thierry Henry recently highlighted a similar concern: "I worry about the Europa League because of the depth of the squad.

"I think the starting XI is quite good, but it's a long season, so it might be a bit too much for them."

Michael Owen has also been involved in the Premier League title race. He doesn't think Arsenal are a 'flash in the pan', but they will fail.

"When you look at their performance, they've actually played very well. So I don't think Arsenal are a flash in the pan. I think they're going to put up with it. I think they're going to do a good job. season.

"But I think Manchester City are a different class to everyone else at the moment. I think they've had a good start to the season.

"Obviously they lost to Liverpool the other day but they look so good in so many games. So I still think Manchester City are going to win the league, but I think Arsenal are here to stay."
