Arsenal told to pay €100m for Mudryk alternative as Edu reignites interest in summer target

FC Barcelona want 100 million euros for Brazilian winger Raphinha, with Arsenal keen to complete a deal in January, according to reports.

The Gunners are keen to sign a new attacking player this month and have previously targeted Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Mikel Arteta's team had submitted three offers to sign the Ukrainian winger, but Shakhtar Donetsk did not agree to their terms.

Chelsea stepped in and quickly secured Mudryk's signature, meeting Shakhtar's hefty €100m valuation.

The Blues would pay €70m up front with €30m in bonuses, with the player signing a whopping seven-and-a-half-year contract, with an option for another year.

Having missed their first goal, Arsenal should bring in another striker.

Several players have already been thrown into the mix by various outlets. Brighton winger Leandro Trossard has been 'offered' to the Gunners, according to Miguel Delaney.

Arsenal were expected to sign a new striker in the winter transfer window, but with Gabriel Jesus out until March, Arteta is very eager to bolster what he has described as a 'thin' squad.

During the summer, technical director Edu had expressed interest in signing Raphinha from Leeds United, but knew the Brazilian was awaiting a transfer to Barcelona.

Chelsea did in fact accept a bid for Raphinha – in another instance where they hijacked a deal to sign an Arsenal target – but Leeds waited for the La Liga giants to cough up the money.

Raphinha's stay in Catalonia was not great. He has started just seven La Liga games this season, completing the full 90 minutes of a game on one occasion.

He has also failed to play a full Champions League game this season, with Xavi having plenty of attacking options at his disposal.

A recent report claimed that Barcelona are ready to sell Brazil international Ansu Fati and former Manchester City striker Ferran Torres.

Arsenal have also been linked with Torres and knowing Barca's financial situation, they are likely to offload one of those three in January.

However, the Gunners will have to pay 100 million euros if they want to secure Raphinha's signature, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.

Having opted not to sign Mudryk for the same amount, it would be hugely surprising to see Arsenal reach that valuation.

Mundo Deportivo have also reported that Raphinha is 'in the crosshairs' of Arsenal.
