Bandits kill one and kidnap several in Bakiyawa community, Katsina

Bandits in large numbers late Wednesday night stormed the Bakiyawa community in Batagarawa Local Government Area, Katsina State and caused panic among the residents, killing one of the locals and kidnapping an as yet undetermined number of others in the process.

Four of the victims injured in the attack by the terrorists would be treated at Katsina University Hospital, noted a community resident who spoke to reporters.

According to a reliable source, the thugs operated freely for nearly three hours, breaking into shops and homes, looting valuables while firing sporadically.

"I cannot say precisely their number but they (the terrorists) were very numerous and they kidnapped many people from the community. Tukur Makeri, who sells agricultural products in the community, was killed by the terrorists and was buried earlier in the day (Thursday). The other four people injured in the attack were taken to Katsina University Hospital for treatment. Many animals were also stolen by the terrorists," he said. declared the source.
