Barcelona board approve €1.255bn budget for 2022-23

Barcelona have confirmed their board have approved an operating revenue budget of €1.255 billion for the 2022-23 season.

La Liga giants Barca have struggled with financial difficulties over several seasons, with president Joan Laporta aiming to steady the ship, although that hasn't stopped them from spending big in the transfer market .

Although Lionel Messi left the club in 2021, Barca signed Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde and Raphinha for big money this year, while adding Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Hector Bellerin and Marcos Alonso on offers at low price. Ousmane Dembele also got a new contract.

Barca sold 25% of its TV revenue for the next 25 years to private equity group Sixth Street in two separate deals in June and July, while also turning to the streaming platform Spotify as new stadium and shirt sponsor.< /p>

On Monday, a statement from the club presented a budget of 1.255 billion euros for the 2022-23 season, as well as confirmation of the turnover for the previous financial year of 1.017 billion euros, of which 98 million euros would have been profits.

The expected profit for the next fiscal year is much higher, at 274 million euros.

Barca's board has also decided that the general assembly of the club's delegated members will be held virtually on October 9. Xavi's side will host Celta Vigo at Camp Nou on the same day.

In a subsequent statement, Barca announced that the tender process for the management of the redevelopment project for the Gol Sur section of their stadium had been finalized, with contracts signed with Catalan companies Enginyeria i Arquitectura Torrella and Ingenieros JG.

According to Barca, the tendering process for the construction works has not yet been completed.
