Barcelona cancel Juventus friendly due to players' stomach problem

Barcelona have canceled their friendly match against Juventus due to a stomach problem affecting several players in the team.

The club made this known in a statement on its official website on Saturday.

According to Spanish site Barca Universal, the club were due to face Juventus in their first pre-season friendly in the United States of America later tonight at Levi's Stadium in California.

"FC Barcelona hereby informs that the game against Juventus FC, scheduled for today July 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Levi's Stadium, as part of the Soccer Champions Tour, has been canceled.

"A significant part of the Blaugrana squad has viral gastroenteritis," the club statement read.

Training had taken place over the past two days in the United States and everything seemed set for the game to take place in a few hours.

However, it appears that several players in the squad have been hit with a stomach ache which prompted the La Liga champions to cancel the friendly against Bianconeri.

It should be remembered that Jules Kounde had suffered from stomach bugs on the first day of training in the USA, which caused him to miss the sessions that day.

It is unknown who all team members and how many players in total are suffering from the issue. But, Toni Juanmarti reports that there may be around 8-9 stars due to the bug.

The Catalans will then take to the pitch to face Arsenal on Wednesday at the SoFi Stadium and hopefully all will be well for the players until then.
