BBC NI job cuts: BBC Northern Ireland to lose 36 jobs

BBC Ireland Nord (BBC NI) plans to close 36 posts in a bid to save £2.3m and invest more in online services.

According to the BBC's latest annual report, BBC NI employs around 600 people.

The BBC said it hopes "the majority" of post closures will be achieved through voluntary redundancies.

< p class="ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00">The company also said that certain programs on Radio Ulster and Radio Foyle would be "affected" by the plans .

This includes the daily breakfast news program on Radio Foyle and the weekly program In side Business on Radio Ulster.

However, more money should be on BBC Northern Ireland's online and digital services, including the BBC iPlayer.< /p>

Staff and unions will now be consulted on savings plans.
