BBC promises 'fairness' after Strictly reports

The BBC has promised to deal with all complaints with “care, fairness and sensitivity” from all parties, following reports about Giovanni Pernice's teaching methods on Strictly Come Dancing.

Law firm Carter Ruck said it had contacted the BBC over "numerous serious complaints" about his alleged behavior while filming Strictly.

The channel said on Wednesday: “It is a long-standing position that the BBC does not comment on specific issues relating to individuals. Ordinarily, we would also not comment if we were investigating individual complaints.

"Recently, we have seen a number of media reports regarding a high-profile broadcast. We urge people not to speculate. Anyone involved in a complaint has the right to confidentiality and a fair process.

"If a complaint is made to the BBC, we assess and take all necessary steps to establish the facts, whether there is a need to respond and, if so, what action should be taken.

< p class="sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe">"All of this comes against the backdrop of the BBC having a duty of care towards anyone linked to a complaint - which applies to those who made the complaint and to those which were the subject of a complaint.

"While we know our broadcasts were positive experiences for many of those who participated, We will always consider all issues raised carefully, fairly and sensitively to all concerned.

"We will not make any further comments."

In his statement earlier this month, Pernice said he looked forward to clearing his name and thanked fans for their support.< /p

"Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive," he added.

"No one is more ambitious than me for my dance partners.
