Watch out for touts disguising themselves as officers – NIS warns passport applicants

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned the public, especially applicants for international passports, to beware of the activities of touts disguised as officers.

The Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, who is also the Passport Control Officer for the Command, Mr. Cyril Alaje, said this during the end of year party and the award ceremony from the command, in Owerri, on Saturday.

He assured Imo residents that the Command will continue to improve its quality of service and deliver in record time in line with its core mandate.

While awarding outstanding state officers, NIS Comptroller in Imo, Ms. recognition was a call for improved service.

She thanked the NIS Comptroller General, Mr. Isah Idris, the NIS officers and men in Imo and the Federal Comptroller of State Works, Mr. Dania Dennis, for facilitating the command's activities in their different abilities.

She also thanked the heads of federal institutions across the state, including sister security agencies, for their unwavering support and synergy that helped the command achieve successes in 2022.

She expressed her deep appreciation to the Governor of the State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for approving the move of the Command Headquarters to a new location and expressed confidence that all official documents necessary to facilitate the move would be expedited.
