Being an actor has been rewarding – Tontirin

Actor and sketch director Kehinde Quadri, also known as Tontirin, is gradually building a unique brand that is attracting the attention of top film producers and investors within and outside the entertainment industry. In this interview with SEGUN ADEBAYO, he shares the story of his rise and what he plans to achieve as an actor.

The film industry is currently in a phase where practitioners must do their best to stay relevant. How prepared are you for this step?

Since becoming an actor, what has been the most exciting experience you've had so far?

The most exciting experience for me would be seeing my performance come to life on the big screen and hearing the audience's reaction. It's incredibly rewarding to see all the hard work and dedication pay off in such a tangible way.

Looking at the structure of the film industry, what are your chances of standing out given that you are still an up and coming actor?

As an up-and-coming comedian, I know that breaking into the film industry can be a challenge. However, I believe that with dedication, hard work and a bit of luck, I have a chance to leave my mark. I am determined to continue to perfect my craft, seize opportunities and showcase my talent.

Do you feel threatened by anyone in the industry?

Why should I be threatened by someone? The sky is big enough for all the birds to fly. I believe everyone has the opportunity to shine in the industry. Each actor brings their unique talent and perspective, which adds to the richness of the entertainment world. Instead of feeling threatened, I choose to draw inspiration from the incredible talent around me and use it as motivation to continue growing as an actor.

What first comes to mind when you receive a script?

When I receive a script, the first thing that comes to mind is the opportunity to bring a character to life and tell a compelling story. I start thinking about the character's motivations, their emotions, and how I can resonate with the audience. It's an exciting and creative process!

What challenging role would you like to play?

As an actor, I would love to take on challenging roles that push the boundaries of my skills and allow me to explore complex characters. It can be anything from a mentally unstable genius to a historical figure with a unique perspective. The more difficult the better!

What is your latest film project and what should your fans expect from you?

The latest projects are “reBIRTH” and fans of The Bead can expect an extraordinary cinematic experience in the upcoming epic film project. It will be a visually stunning and culturally rich journey that will captivate and immerse audiences into a world of wonder and excitement.

You have produced some sketches recently. What is the attraction?

I love creating sketches because it allows me to express my creativity and entertain others. Sketch actors often connect with audiences through relatable and humorous content, which resonates in today's social media culture.

What do you think about the growth of Nollywood?

Nollywood has seen impressive growth, showcasing diverse stories and talented actors. It’s exciting to see its impact.
