BFN brings badminton to the base

The Badminton Federation of Nigeria Recently Held "Shuttle Time" Training Event at Ilisan Community Town Hall, Ilisan-Remo, State of Ogun, aimed to bring the game to the grassroots, Francis Orbih, BFN boss said.

The event, held on April 5-6 in partnership with the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, is designed by Badminton World Federation's "Shuttle Time" and takes place in various locations across 150 countries.

According to Orbih, it is aimed at boys and girls aged 5 to 15, with the aim of introducing them to the game in a fun way.

"In addition to providing children with their first access to badminton, it aims to provide children and young people with the opportunity to lead healthy and active lives, in and out of school", said added Orbih.

Orbih said holding the event in a rural area was particularly important for the BFN, whose aim is to bring grassroots badminton to Nigeria.

He added that this was the only way for the current BFN board to ensure that out-of-reach Nigerians could get access to the basics of the game, thereby expanding the pool of talents that the BFN needed to nurture. in future badminton stars.

Physical education students and teachers from 13 secondary schools in Ilisan, Abeokuta, Sagamu, Simawa, Iperu, Ikenne and Isanbi participated in the event.
