Buhari removes NYSC CEO

The president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), has reportedly sacked the director general of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Mohammed Fadah.

Contacted, NYSC spokesman Eddy Megwa simply asked our correspondent to wait for an official statement to be released on Friday.

The Cable, however, quoted sources as saying the president's decision was made on Thursday.

Fadah's removal comes just six months after he was named NYSC boss in May 2022.

His plans for the NYSC at the time of his appointment included "improving the safety and welfare of Corps members; improved staff well-being; and improved NYSC business earnings."

Other areas of his plans are "supporting the digitization of program operations; and deepening NYSC's impact on rural development through a community development service."

The Cable reported that Fadah was asked to hand over to the top NYSC official.

The official who succeeds him will serve as DG pending the announcement of a new appointment.
