Buhari's aide celebrates dumping NNPP by Ningi

Special Assistant to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retired) on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has celebrated the release of New Nigeria People's Party National Treasurer, Shehu Ningi, from party.

The PUNCH had reported that Ningi, in a letter he wrote to NNPP Ward Chairman Ningi, dated November 25, 2022, said he had decided to step down as Treasurer national as well as party membership "for personal reasons".

The former NNPP Bauchi State chairman said he will announce his next decision and which political party he will join this week.

Ningi who was part of the All Progressives Congress dropped the party and went to the PRP; later he quit the party and returned to the APC before joining the NNPP.

While in the APC, he became budget and planning commissioner under the administration of Mohammed Abubakar, then resigned his appointment on December 23, 2016, saying that he was "marginalized" by the governor. .

He joined the People's Redemption Party and later became the chairman of the PRP in Bauchi State. But on October 17, 2020, Ningi in a letter to PRP National Chairman Falalu Bello said he was stepping down as a member and chairman of the party in Bauchi State.

After his resignation, he returned to his former party, the APC.

In a tweet on Saturday evening, the presidential aide said he hoped Ningi would rejoin the APC.

“NNPP National Treasurer Shehu Barau Ningi has dumped the party. We hope to welcome him to our big party, the APC,” he tweeted.
