Calabar-Itu Federal Highway: We will be commissioning parts ahead of Buhari - Ita Enang exit
Former Special Assistant to the Presidency for Niger Delta Affairs and Legacy Project Team, initiator of the Calabar-Itu Federal Highway Project, Ita Enang assured that parties of the federal road Calaba-Itu under dualization and rehabilitation by the federal government must be ordered before the exit of the administration of the federal government led by Buhari.
Ita, who made the remarks during the on-site assessment and site inspection on the road project, expressed optimism about the speed and quality of the work on the ground are satisfactory.
“The cost of the whole project is N185 billion. The share attributed to Sematech Construction Company is 79 billion naira, while that of Julius Julius Berger is 54 billion naira and the part attributed to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Ltd. (CCECC) is 50.2 billion; totaling N185 billion.
"Each of the companies has their completion periods because they were not signed at the same time. But the Sematech company promised to deliver in advance; and more precisely on the specifications. ”
Ita, however, did not mention a specific delivery schedule for the project, he explained: "Much of it would be completed by the deadline of this one. (Buhari's government), and we expect His Excellency Mr. President will commission parts of the fully completed road and bridges.

"I'm impressed with what has been done so far and other companies are having funding issues; the Julius Berger parts of the project are funded by the Sukuk fund, other windows funding these projects are the Federal Department of Public Works budget, loans through the Sukuk Fund, and then the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) NNPC Tax Credit Critical Infrastructure Fund. One of Sematech Construction Company's site engineers, Chibuzor iheanachor, gave an analysis of the project sites: "This place is Okpokom Bridge, on this stretch we have made sand filling on both sides of the road and the level of formation of the earthwork, the main thing is to prepare it for the dry season.
“We have 4 bridges on site; 3 at Cross River exist and 1 at the Akwa Ibom axis of the road. at the bridge on the Akwa Ibom axis, we made and finished the piles, and even the Okpokam bridge also at Cross River.
"We also have a total of 45 culverts on the Cross River axis, of which about 25 culverts have been completed, while we have 1 on the Akwa Ibom axis and is completed. At Sematech , we have contracted a coverage area of 11 kilometers of road section between Cross River and Akwa Ibom States, out of the entire 28.6 kilometers of the road project,” he said.
