'Capable' Arsenal have 'little or no chance' of signing 'very unstable' Serie A star in January

Arsenal had a 'slim to no' chance of signing Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic during the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen in a number of areas over the winter if they can find the right player at the right price.

Mikel Arteta led his side to the top of the Premier League table with Arsenal eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City, who play their game in hand tonight against Chelsea.

And January looks like the perfect opportunity to cement their status as Premier League leaders with Arteta keen to bring in another striker.

Gabriel Jesus was injured at the World Cup and is set to be out for months, rather than weeks, in a blow to Arsenal, but Eddie Nketiah has so far managed to replace him well.< /p>

Nketiah has scored twice in the Gunners' three Premier League games since the World Cup break, but Arsenal would be without a recognizable striker if the 23-year-old is banned with injury.

And that has led to several strikers being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal again linked with a move for Vlahovic after missing out on the Serbia international to Juventus last winter.

Reports have claimed that Arsenal still have Vlahovic on their 'radar' with struggling Juventus this season, despite having recently moved up to third in the table.

CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs recently revealed that there is a "very real possibility" that Vlahovic will leave Juventus in 2023, with a January exit not being ruled out.

But Jacobs said late last month that it was mainly Chelsea preparing the ground for a potential deal for Vlahovic and not other clubs.

Jacobs said in December: "It's actually Chelsea, from a Premier League perspective, who are investigating at this stage, and we know they need a striker as well.

"But I think everyone pursuing Vlahovic needs to understand, is January possible, first and foremost, and if not, what do they need to do to persuade him to move to the Premier League in January? And what can clubs learn from Arsenal's situation?

"And also, what is his injury situation? Because at the moment, if you catch him in January, he has a groin problem which is still under investigation. But Chelsea look at him a bit more seriously and obviously a number of other attackers because of the Armando Broja situation."

GiveMeSport transfer insider Dean Jones has shed some light on Vlahovic's situation with Arsenal having a better chance of landing the former Fiorentina man this summer.

"I'm always told the chances of having Vlahovic in that window are slim to none," Jones told GiveMeSport.

"But at the end of the season, if Arsenal maintain this kind of form, they will be capable of almost anything in the transfer market.

"Juventus are very unstable at the moment and I think there is a good chance that the best talent will be available this summer."
