Total failure: You are his product - Amaechi's ally, Eze responds to Gov Wike

A leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has denied claims by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, that his predecessor and former transport minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, is a complete failure.

Wike, at the inauguration of the rebuilt former Riv-Bank Insurance building in Port Harcourt on Monday, claimed that Amaechi had failed to attract projects to Rivers State.

The governor said Amaechi had also shown poor leadership in Rivers' main opposition party and should therefore hide his face in shame.

Wike said the former transportation minister and former APC presidential hopefuls should hide his face in shame and stop talking about Rivers State.

Wike said Amaechi was a complete failure and is currently banned from Aso Rock's tour.

But in a statement late Thursday, Eze highlighted some of former Governor de Rivers' accomplishments while serving as a minister under the current administration.

And according to him, Amaechi paid the $400 million of the $1 billion UNEP Fund to Ogoni whom Wike and his master and former president Goodluck Jonathan blocked from gaining access to the state between 2014 and 2015.

The former nPDP spokesman said that as transport minister, Amaechi had ensured the upgrading of Port Harcourt International Airport to an international standard.

Eze said Amaechi was very outspoken in his choice of words during Alabo's funeral, noting that his opinion represents the voice of the people of Rivers.

Eze reiterated that people in Rivers State know between Wike and Amaechi who has done more as governor.

"Wike is Amaechi's first major product," Eze said.
