Chau Rising RTW Fall 2023

Chau Rising, a Chinese brand with over 300 retailers and a flagship at Galeries Lafayette Shanghai, has is prepped for her London Fashion Week debut.

The brand unveiled its subversive take on knitwear and cashmere to international audiences. Highlights included multicolored cardigans with Chinese knots, patchwork knit pieces and sweaters with designs that appear to come from murals in the Mogao Grottoes, a key location for Buddhism and cross-cultural exchange on the road to silk. The location also inspired the show's makeup and hair.

The brand offered solid denim pieces, like pastel open jackets, tie-dye dresses , as well as shredded jeans and faded maxi skirts, which paired well with her playful knits.

According to brand creative director Liu Chaoying, the show aimed to evoke a sense of hope that the worst is over. For the brand, the show also marked a new beginning in uncharted waters.

With some tweaks to the narration, which so far still seemed a bit domestic, global audiences might be able to better appreciate the brand's offer after a few more seasons abroad.
