Chelsea set to beat Arsenal against Mudryk as Shakhtar confirm 'very close' deal
Shakhtar Donetsk have confirmed that a deal with Chelsea for Mykhaylo Mudryk is "very close".
The Blues are widely reported to have seen an £88.5m (€100m) bid accepted by the Ukrainian side for the winger, seemingly overtaking London rivals Arsenal at the top file.
Mikel Arteta's side have reportedly made progress on their own deal in recent days, but have been left behind following the move from Chelsea.
In a statement, Shakhtar said: "Shakhtar President Rinat Akhmetov and Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali today discussed the transfer of Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea.
"The parties are close to agreeing on the transfer of the player to the club."
Mudryk has previously expressed a desire to move to Arsenal and dropped several hints on social media this month, with the Premier League leaders seen as his preferred destination.
However, that prospect may now be off the table unless the Gunners confirm their offer, with Chelsea firmly leading the chase.
