Chelsea star Mykhaylo Mudryk is set to opt out of the transfer late after Mauricio Pochettino's snobbery.

Chelsea have been tipped to make a "surprise move" at the end of the transfer window and allow Mykhaylo Mudryk to leave the club. The striker joined the club in January but struggled to justify his £88.5million price tag, leaving some wondering if he will ever fulfill his potential at Stamford Bridge.

Mudryk has shown signs of promise since joining the Premier League but was ultimately disappointed, failing to find the back of the net in his 19 career appearances for the Blues.

As many stars have struggled since joining Chelsea over the past 18 months, Mudryk may not have had the right environment to thrive and therefore will need some time to settle in England before showing his potential.

But former Chelsea striker Pat Nevin believes there is every chance Chelsea will cut their losses to Mudryk and offload him before the summer transfer window closes given he hasn't started a league game this season.

He explained: "Mudryk hasn't had playing time this season. He's a very good player and Arsenal needed him desperately and it didn't work out for him last season, but who did it last season at Chelsea?

"It depends on what Pochettino thinks. They spent a lot of money on a player who is not good yet. There could be a big in and a surprise out, and it could be Mudryk.

"But I would be sad because I think he's a good player and he needs to be in a team that suits him. A winning and attacking team, not a team that lacks confidence all over the place. land."

Arsenal pushed to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk before Chelsea hijacked the move, and Mikel Arteta's side will feel relieved to see the Ukraine international struggling in the Premier League. However, Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino has previously explained that he believes it is only a matter of time before the 22-year-old regains his form.
