Court cases won't stop transfer to Tinubu, Shettima - FG

The federal government on Tuesday gave assurances that the transition of power from President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Ret.) to President-elect Bola Tinubu would be smooth and peaceful .

It was then that the government announced that the renovation of the offices of the president and vice president-elect had been completed.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, the chairman of the transition committee, Boss Mustapha, stressed that a dispute would not prevent the handover ceremony from taking place.

He said, "The committee has been active and the renovation of the offices of the president and vice president-elect has been completed.

“The installation of the Maison de la Défense is ready. Security personnel from the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Police have also been deployed to the President and Vice President-elect.

"Protocol officers have also been assigned to both the President-Elect and the Vice-President-Elect of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Intelligence Agency.

“The transition process is ongoing and every effort is being made to ensure it goes smoothly. On May 29, there would be a peaceful formal transfer of power to the new president. »

Mustapha noted that the security subcommittee was tasked with making sure no one truncates the transfer.

He said: "All disputes, whether resolved or not, will in no way stop the process. The President does not spend another day in office. The Security Committee has a responsibility to ensure that nothing comes to truncate the process of transition.Nigerians are very law-abiding people.

“Anyone who has lost an election, there are avenues for those people to do whatever legal investigation they want to do, but the process will continue unabated. We would not create another constitutional crisis. On May 29, the handover will take place. »

As part of the transition, Mustapha also said that four members of the president-elect's team would join the FG delegation to the World Bank's Spring Meeting.

He, however, disclosed that the President-elect has appointed Wale Edun and Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu to serve on the transition committee.
