Cute NFL Ranking Tracker Uses Small Mini Helmets

If you're a die-hard sports fan, you love nothing more than keeping up to date with the league's progress, top to bottom. [Kiu] had a family member who was passionate about the NFL, so set about building them a remarkably cool ladder tracker.

The tracker displays the NFL league table with a ten minute delay, thanks to a paid live data feed from MySportsFeeds.com. When an update arrives, the miniature helmets representing each team in the competition are moved in the correct order. The helmets sit on small plastic tags that make moving them easy, reliable and repeatable. Built from familiar parts from the world of 3D printers, this tracker relies on steppers and V-rails for linear motion, under the control of an Arduino Nano.

This is a build that would look great in any game room, and we bet a full-scale version would look corporate in a high-end sports bar . Let's be honest - the best quarterbacks in the league will all fight for one as soon as possible. That doesn't mean it won't sting to come home with your team's helmet rolling down the board after a painful loss!

We've also seen other interesting sports tracking projects over the years. Video after the break!
