Daniel Kaluuya Explains Crying Over Cue On 'Hot Ones': 'That's When The Hot Sauce Could Come In'

Daniel Kaluuya's acting resume is proof he's up for any job. From his breakout role in Jordan Peele's horror phenom "Get Out" to his Oscar-winning portrayal of Fred Hampton in "Judas and the Black Messiah," the actor can hang out with the best of them. But by taking on the Wings of Death challenge in the latest episode "Hot Ones" of First We Feast, he topped himself with perhaps one of his best performances yet.

"...I can't really spoil this, but he found a way to bring out the fear."

The 'Nope' star joined host Sean Evans for an assortment of wings for his 'Hot Ones' interview, posted July 13, as they discussed his new horror flick. Unlike the typical dark and spooky films that most horror fans are used to, Kaluuya explained how Peele manipulated daylight in "No" to scare viewers for his haunting new tale. "You can see things when the sun comes up. That's what's really interesting about this process," Kaluuya told Evans. "When it's dark you can't look up in the sky and see what - well, I can't really spoil it, but he found a way to bring the fear into the light. What I think is enough special."

Kaluuya held on for the rest of the interview — casually discussing his love of grime and acting, rapper Beanie Sigel's influence on his acting, and Chicago's deep pizza — while still holding on. delivering to a plate some of the hottest wings known to man. "Easy money," the actor joked at one point, but met his match around the 16th minute when the wings almost got the better of his taste buds. "This chicken is going crazy in my mouth," he exclaimed as he downed a glass of ice water.

Somehow Kaluuya made it through the 10 stages of the wing and managed to share a little-known piece of information about how he learned to cry at the right time for the sunken place scene in "Get Out". "It's like [Russian theater expert Konstantin] Stanislavski. Sometimes you make an emotional memory, for me it's color," he revealed. "I remember the color I wore and the color would trigger me and then I would go straight into that space...but when you have to do half takes...that's where the hot sauce could come in. "

Kaluuya stars in 'No,' in theaters July 22, alongside Keke Palmer and Steven Yeun. Watch him survive Evans' spicy wings challenge in "Hot Ones" above.
