Di Maria tells Rami to 'go cry somewhere else' over Martinez as duo argue over 'biggest shit in football'

Angel di Maria told former France defender Adil Rami to 'go cry somewhere else' over Emiliano Martinez's celebrations after Argentina's World Cup win.

Martinez was instrumental in Argentina's penalty shoot-out victory over France in one of the greatest World Cup finals of all time last weekend, but he did raise eyebrows with some of his actions afterwards.

He appeared to make a vulgar gesture with his Golden Glove during the trophy presentation and also repeatedly mocked France striker Kylian Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick in the centerpiece of Lusail.

Argentina won their third world title, Martinez saving Kingsley Coman's penalty in the 4-2 shootout win after a thrilling final ended 3-3.

In the dressing room afterwards, Martinez called for a minute's silence for Mbappe and received further criticism for the celebrations in Buenos Aires when he held up a doll bearing the Frenchman's face.< /p>

Martinez will return to the Midlands next week, with Villa boss Unai Emery intending to have a chat with the 30-year-old over some of his controversial antics.

"When you have a big emotion, sometimes it's hard to control it," Emery said.

“I will talk to him next week about some celebrations but I respect that he is now under the national team and when he is with us it is our responsibility so we can talk about it.”

Former France defender Rami called Martinez 'the biggest mess in football' last week after the Argentina goalkeepers' antics against Mbappe.

And now Di Maria, who scored in the World Cup final, has hit back at Rami's comments, angrily replying: "El Dibu (Martinez) is the best goalkeeper in the world. Go cry somewhere else."

Di Maria has had a bit of a reputation for being in tears during his career and Rami fired back.

Rami posted: "Can you teach me?" and four photos with separate captions, which read: "When you lose", "when you win", "when you leave a club", "when you see this tweet".

Argentina teammate Leandro Paredes also criticized Rami on social media, he wrote: "Now say it without crying Rami."

Crystal Palace boss and France legend Patrick Vieira believes Martinez made a 'stupid decision' to celebrate the France team rather than Argentina's victory.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Vieira said: "Some of the pictures I've seen of the Argentine goalkeeper, I think, take away a bit from what Argentina have achieved during the World Cup.

"I don't think they really need that.

"You can't control people's emotional decisions sometimes. But it was a stupid decision, I think, on Martinez's part to do that."
