Dispatches from the Picket Lines, Day 46: A Beyoncé Breakfast, “Abbott Elementary” Meets L.A. Teachers, Pacific Islander Day and More

It was a busy day on the L.A. area WGA picket lines, with a visit from some Abbott Elementary, support from union teachers and nurses, and dancers doing their hula for Pacific Islander Day.

The day began with striking writers and their supporters enjoying burritos and coffee at the breakfast as picketers marched to Beyoncé tunes blared over a loudspeaker outside Netflix's headquarters on Sunset Boulevard:

This particular sign stood out from the crowd like Spandex at a knitting convention:< /p>

From there picketing resumed at Warner Bros in Burbank with an Abbott Elementary /teachers union. Lisa Ann Walter, who plays second-grade teacher Melissa Schemmenti in the Emmy-winning ABC comedy, told the crowd, "We at Abbott Elementary are on the side of the teachers. … I am proud to represent the profession every day.”

Walter stayed later to greet every WGA forward and supporter who had formed a long line to meet her:

Bruno Amato — who plays Gary the ATM guy and Walter's character's boyfriend — on the show, explained to the picketers why he was there today:

And writer Abbott Elementary winner of an Emmy-star designer Quinta Brunson provided flaky pastelitos to help feed the crowd:
