A lot has changed since Download Festival launched in 2004.

But many of the headliners of the UK's biggest rock and metal festival have remained the same - until this year.

Bring Me the Horizon and Architects close the main stage on Friday - the first time the two UK bands have had top billing at Donington.

"It will be a great time for the UK scene," Architects frontman Sam Carter told BBC Newsbeat.

"When I think about where our two bands came from to where we are now, it's absolutely astounding."

The architects, from Brighton, and Bring Me the Horizon, from Sheffield, have slowly climbed the rocky ladder, picking up new fans along the way.

Neither had headlined Download before, which traditionally opts for "legacy acts" - older bands seen as guaranteed ticket sellers.

But some fans have long been asking for new artists to have a chance.
