EA Sports expands FIFA 23 competitive ecosystem with new cup roster

September 26 – EA SPORTS has unveiled a new set of competitions for the final year of the EA Sports branded game FIFA 23.

The pinnacle of elite events is a new EA Sports Cup, an invite-only 2v2 competition. The competition will see 20 of the world's best EA SPORTS FIFA duos from top esports clubs and teams - including Manchester City Esports, Paris Saint-Germain Esports, Fnatic and Complexity Gaming - go head-to-head on the road to the FIFA World Cup. Matches start on October 17 and will be streamed weekly on the EA SPORTS FIFA Twitch and EA SPORTS FIFA Esports YouTube channels. The top two teams will qualify directly for the FIFAe Club World Cup 2023.

The FIFA Global Series 23 (FGS) will also continue to feature 1v1 competitions on the road to the 2023 FIFA World Cup and will begin with the launch of the global release of EA SPORTS FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition on September 27.

The FGS 23 Mid-Season Major will see the best players from the five FGS Regional Qualifiers on April 7, 2023 compete in an in-person LAN event in London, England.

More than 30 football league partners and confederations will host tournaments, with competitors representing their clubs. Leagues that are part of the ecosystem include ePremier League, Virtual Bundesliga, eLaLiga Santander, eLigue 1 Uber Eats, eMLS, eSerie A TIM, KPN eDivisie, CONMEBOL eLibertadores and eChampions League.
