Ebonyi government pays tribute to ex-CP Olaleye for arresting killers of INEC official

Ebonyi State Governor Chief Francis Nwifuru has praised retired state police commissioner Sunday Olaleye for arresting the killers of an INEC official and saving victim's wife alive as they returned from Abia State.

He also praised the retired CP for his efforts to combat crime and other related issues in the state during the short time he remained in the state.

Governor Nwifuru revealed this during the State Dinner in honor of retired Police Commissioner, Ebonyi State Command CP. Faleye E. S Olaleye at Banquet Hall, Old Government House, Abakaliki.

Falaye, who came to Ebonyi State the day before the general elections, retired on Thursday and was honored by the state government this weekend.

Governor Nwifuru described the retired CP as a smart policeman whose intelligence in the force led to the recorded success in tackling crime and criminality in the state.

Nwifuru also thanked the retired PC for arresting law enforcement officers who terrorized parts of the state last week and destroyed properties worth millions of naira in different locations.

"I said to CP, whatever it takes for the state to get this person arrested, I'm interested. He told me to give him 48 hours. After 48 hours, I don't I didn't get the result and he told me that the result would come in a very complete way.

"The kidnapped woman was released during the night. In the morning at 12 o'clock, I got the result. All those who participated in this heinous crime have been arrested. All have been arrested and they must face the law,” he said.

He then urged the new state police commissioner, Tina Ogbodo, to also secure the state like her predecessor, Olaleye and assured her of the government's continued support for security officers in the fight against the crime in the state.
