Elections: we are still in APC, the BOSG reacts to rumors of defection

The Buhari Osinbajo Solidarity Front (BOSF) has debunked the news of its defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that the group is said to have apologized to Nigerians for "blindly supporting" the All Progressives Congress and installing an administration that caused so much anguish.

Group members announced their collective decision to abandon the ruling party to join the opposition and work for the success of the Atiku-Okowa presidential ticket.

The national coordinator of the support group, Hon. Danjuma Fachiwe Gwoza, reportedly announced the decision along with other members of the group during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.

But in response, the group's national chairman, Alhaji Ado Baba, in a statement he personally signed on Thursday, said the factional group "in no way represents the views of the real support groups that are genuinely loyal to both the President and the VP" adding that "their claims are therefore false and baseless".

He continued; “Anyway, what is the motive for their desperate clinging to the names of the president and vice president in their political gamble, if not crass opportunism and shameless anticipation? A real approach would have been to exercise their free will to make their political choices even if at the 11th hour without the names of Buhari and Osinbajo. These so-called groups could have simply adopted the names of their favorite candidate in their new adventure.

"We would like to make it clear that the actions of these groups are not only wrong and solely for their selfish interests, but also unfortunate, as they do not reflect the true spirit and aspirations of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

“We urge Nigerians to ignore the actions of these groups as they do not represent the true loyalty and support enjoyed by both the President and Vice President across the country.

“Supporters of the Buhari/Osinbajo presidency need not apologize or throw out the Congress of All Progressives. As the Vice President recently stated when representing the President at the PMB Legacy Portal presentation, the millions of beneficiaries of several administration people-friendly programs such as Social Investment Programs (SIPs) , among others, “are real people with a springboard to do more for themselves and their communities; real people inspired to hope and believe that Nigeria can be positively transformed in our lifetimes.”

"I believe I speak on the President's view when I say that our administration considers it a privilege and an honor to serve the people of our great nation as we have for the past eight These achievements are the hard-earned dividends of the social contract we entered into with the people of Nigeria when we came to power in 2015.

“Here, as stated above, is where we stand. Well-meaning Nigerians should continue to ignore political pretenders and beggars, whatever they call themselves,” the statement added.
