Elon Musk's jet took a 9-minute flight from San Jose to San Francisco

Elon Musk's jet completed a nine-minute flight, and the internet isn't thrilled, Unilad reported.

Hayden Clarkin, founder of TransitCon, a public transportation conference, tweeted about the theft along with a photo of the flight path.

"Elon Musk took a 9 minute flight to San Francisco from San Jose, that's 5 stops on Caltrain. I literally have no words," he wrote.

San Francisco and San Jose are approximately 80 miles apart. On Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), the trip takes about an hour and 40 minutes, according to Apple Maps. On Caltrain, the trip takes just under two hours.

It's unclear exactly when the flight took place, but @ElonJet, the teen-run Twitter account that automatically imports Musk's public jet tracking data into a social media feed, tweeted that topic in May, and the account claims to track the Tesla CEO's jet in nearly real time.

It is not known if Musk was on the plane during this particular ride. He did not immediately respond to Entrepreneur's request for comment.

Elon Musk offered the teenager up to $5,000 to shut down the tracking account, per protocol.

Clarkin's tweet elicited a host of strong reactions. He tweeted "Going to my DMs to defend your lord and savior Elon Musk will just go unread", and continued with "Elon Musk fans…phew."

There were comments about carbon emissions, speculation that the plane was "just" being moved, and reminders of 18th century France:

Venture capitalist Om Malik called it a "Marvel complex".

Social media users have criticized online celebrities for their use of private jets. Earlier this month, the Taylor Swift publicist defended herself against claims by an environmental group that she emitted 8,000 tonnes of CO2 in 2022, saying the plane was on "regular loan", according to The Guardian.

Kylie Jenner recently posted a photo with Travis Scott and two private jets and said "do you want to take mine or yours?", and another teenage girl's @celebjets account revealed she was coming to take a 20-minute private flight, by Futurisme. The image is still visible.

Even with rising fuel prices, the use of private jets is more popular than ever, according to the BBC.

Only 1% of the planet's inhabitants are responsible for 50% of global carbon emissions, according to Transport & Environment.
