Elon Musk's new Twitter poll to decide fate of suspended accounts that Doxxed his 'exact location'

Just hours after suspending the accounts of several notable journalists for violating Twitter's new doxxing rules, Elon Musk released a poll asking if he should go back.

What happened: On Thursday night, Musk posted a poll on Twitter asking if he should "reopen the accounts" that doxxed his exact location in real time.

Based on the final result, 43% of people voted yes to immediate account restoration, while just over 38% voted for an extended suspension.

Musk has clarified that the current suspension will last for seven days.

The billionaire entrepreneur then reposted the poll with just two options. It has garnered over 226,000 votes as of 11:50 p.m. AND, with more than half saying the suspensions should be revoked immediately.

Why it matters: Musk-led Twitter on Thursday suspended rival platform Mastodon's account after it apparently promoted a link to an account that tracked his private jet.

The new doxxing rules were enforced after Musk's son X's vehicle was followed by a "crazy stalker" who jumped on the car's hood.
