EPL: Real reason Abramovich didn't buy Arsenal revealed

Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has shown interest in buying Arsenal before taking over his London rivals.

This was revealed in "The Club" written by Wall Street reporters Joshua Robinson and Jonathan Clegg.

It is believed that in 2003, Abramovich hired the Swiss bank UBS to examine the economies of top-flight football clubs in England.

However, the Russian oligarch has been told that Arsenal are 'categorically not for sale'.

Abramovich also met with the owners of Tottenham Hotspur, but that deal fell through.

The billionaire eventually ended up in west London and bought Chelsea during a reign that lasted 19 years.

He was replaced by American billionaire Todd Boehly, after facing sanctions due to his country's war with Ukraine.
