EPL: Why Man City fall to Brentford 2-1 at Etihad – Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has explained why his side lost 2-1 to Brentford in Saturday's Premier League draw.

Guardiola said Brentford won against Man City because their players had a lot of problems and couldn't press the visitors during the game.

The former Barcelona and Bayern manager watched Brentford beat Man City at the Etihad Stadium.

An Ivan Toney brace gave Brentford all three points against Guardiola's side as Phil Foden's goal was not enough for the hosts.

"The better team won. We had a lot of problems, we couldn't press high because of the balls [from] the goalkeeper to the striker," Guardiola said in his post-season press conference. match.

He added: "In the first 15-16 minutes they had two clear chances, then we have the momentum, we attack a bit quicker - center right, center left, and we do a bit more of a process.

"In the second half we started well, then there was a 10-minute break. Every break, long balls, we couldn't win.

"Tactically we had trouble controlling. We struggled to control long balls from Raya to Tony. You have to be brilliant in small spaces and we weren't."
