Eudon Choi Pre-Fall 2023

A reflection on aging took center stage in the Pre-Fall 2023 collection from Eudon Choi.

After witnessing the anxieties of aging among his friends in South Korea, where plastic surgery is almost as common as a spa treatment, the London-based designer instead wanted to embrace the beauty of winning a few lines on the face.

He referenced the personal styles of "strong women" like Diana Vreeland and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and a infused their boldness and carefree attitude towards life with his urban, utilitarian DIY approach to wardrobe construction.

The collection was also unisex. For the first time, Choi has hired a male model to showcase some of the styles in the lookbook, after putting a few male models on the catwalk last September.

The result was a stylish range of outerwear, couture, knitwear and dresses with thoughtful details that offer the wearer the possibility of having fun for various social functions - a trench coat unbuttoned from the inside becomes a vest, a shirt with an additional removable collar or a knit top that can be worn outside front and rear.

Choi calls the collection an anti-Y2K statement, as the parts are supposed to "be kept in the watch for a long time,” an idea that the TikTok generation is quickly catching up with as the recession hits.
