An explosion destroys a gas plant near Redemption Camp

A fire engulfed a gas plant near the Redemption Camp at Mowe Bus Stand, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area in Ogun State.

The PUNCH understood that the explosion caused panic in the area, as residents and workers from various institutions in the area operated the heater to stay safe.

A local resident, who went by the simple name of Bola, said the fire started around 10:30 a.m., adding that the factory exploded near the camp and around the police station at the camp.

“We were inside when we suddenly heard the explosion, and everyone came out to find out what was going on. As I speak to you, the place of the explosion is burning,” said Bola.

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency spokesperson Nosa Okunbor confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

He said: "We are already on our way and the place of the explosion we had was Redeemed Camp, Mowe Bus Stop."
